Volunteer in Room 106

Starting December 1, 2014, family volunteers will not be allowed to go on field trips or participate in other school activities, including supervised classroom events, without filling out two forms. The previous forms are no longer active. Read the full article for more information.

1. Complete the Background Check Form, seal it in an envelope with a $5.00 fee. (Fee scholarships are available from the PTA as needed. Processing will take 2 weeks.)

  • Personally deliver it to the school secretary.
  • Or mail to the Minneapolis Public Schools.

2. Fill out the on-line Volunteer Form.

Ongoing Volunteer Needs:

1. Stuff take-home folders on a Tuesday. One parent is needed every Tuesday for 5-20 minutes (afternoon preferred, anytime). If we have a few volunteers, we can piece together a 1 or 2 times-per-month schedule to share the commitment.

2. Have a child read with you one-on-one. One (grand)parent per day, Tuesday-Friday, 10:45-11:30 am. Again, the more volunteers we have the lighter the rotation schedule. Sign up here to be a reading listener.

3. Occasionally support math sessions. One (grand)parent, any day at 3:00 pm. Math is typically a group lesson followed by a math game. If a parent would like to come in and help out during this time, that’s welcomed.

4. Help run class parties. Several (grand)parents on designated days. This may involve developing and running an activity station, reading a story, or bringing and overseeing party-food snack. Or it may involve supporting the lead parent. Small groups of students rotate through each station during a party.

Thank you.
