Violin-The violin is the smallest of all the orchestra instruments and has the highest pitch. Many students love the bright, beautiful tones of the violin and choose to continue playing this instrument in orchestra.

Viola-The viola looks similar to the violin, but is bigger and has a slightly lower pitch. Many students choose the viola because they like the deep, mellow tones it creates.

Cello-The cello is much bigger than the violin or viola and is played in the seated position.
Many students choose the cello because they want the adventure of a completely new instrument and the low, warm tones.

*Students interested in playing bass in fifth grade should play cello during fourth grade.
