LHCS Community Event - My Very Own Bed

Looking for an easy and safe way for your family to help others this holiday season? Why not make a no-sew tie blanket for My Very Own Bed! MVOB is a local non-profit that provides new beds and bedding to children in the Twin Cities who have experienced homelessness or housing insecurity and have recently moved into stable housing. Oftentimes these families cannot afford beds and children end up sleeping on the floor, on an air mattress, or with another family member. My Very Own Bed provides front door delivery of their new beds giving these children a soft place of their own to dream.
The families at LHCS made over 100 blankets at our event last year. We are hoping to make 100 this year through our virtual event. It’s easy – simply visit the signupgenius to let us know you'll be making a blanket (or several blankets) with your family. Purchase your fleece (2.5 – 3 yards of patterned fleece and the same amount in matching solid fleece), then follow the directions attached to the signupgenius to cut and tie your blanket. Finished blankets can be dropped off anytime between now and January 3rd inside Nikki Niermann’s front porch.
Thanks to grants from the PTA and Royal Neighbors, we have purchased enough fleece to make 20 blankets (for anyone who doesn’t want to pick out their own). You can reserve your fleece on the signupgenius below and Nikki will contact you to arrange pickup from her porch.
This is an easy and safe project that your family can do together and it will directly benefit children in the Twin Cities.
