Laura Radde, Special Ed Resource Teacher - Room 206 (UC)
Ms. Radde

Welcome to my web page. I am a  full-time Special Education Resource Teacher (SERT) providing support to students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP), at the Upper Campus.  I work primarily with middle grade students. I hold a Masters Degree in Special Education and licenses in Autism Spectrum Disorders, Specific Learning Disabilities, and Developmental Cognitive Disabilities.  Lake Harriet Community School is also my neighborhood school and community.

Each student I work with has a program designed to meet their individual needs and empower them to be self-advocates and successful learners.   Some students may have direct instruction in  reading, math, writing, study skills and/or social skills, working in a small group learning situation in the resource room 206. Once a year I utilize a social skills program called Upstream Arts, using community performing artists. The PTA has been generous in providing me with this grant, which enriches my teaching and the experiences for students with social needs.

Some areas I'll focus on (curriculum) this school year may include:

  • reading and vocabulary enrichment (Read Naturally, read aloud books, crossword puzzles, Daily Spark vocabulary)
  • mathematic skills that support algebra (IXL, CMP supplemental work)
  • study, test and organizational skills (Saddleback Study Skills curriculum)
  • social skills and coping/calming strategies (Think Social, Hidden Curriculum, various books,web-based resources and videos)
  • writing skills (Kansas Strategies, Expressive Writing, Spelling Through Morphographs)
  • preparing our 8th graders for high school

I look forward to another year of empowering and learning!
