Each year, hundreds of parents and community volunteers donate their time and talents to Lake Harriet Community School. Parent involvement is a critical component that drives LHCS excellence. We encourage and need all families to get involved in their child's education through volunteering.
If you are a parent, guardian, grandparent, or community member and would like to volunteer at Lake Harriet, please fill out the volunteer interest form. We'll communicate with you about ways to be involved in the school.
BEFORE VOLUNTEERING AND BACKGROUND CHECKS:
Beginning October 15, MPS will require all volunteers to certify that they agree to follow this requirement by either being fully vaccinated or committing to testing within a week of entering an MPS building. The form is available online and paper copies of the form will also be available at the school check-in desk (in English, Hmong, Somali and Spanish). Please bring a copy of the completed form to show whenever you check in for your volunteer shift at your school. The school will not collect a copy of your completed form; you can keep the form to show each time you volunteer.
If you have any questions regarding this requirement please email volunteer.services@mpls.k12.mn.us.
Background Checks
Background checks are required if you will be alone with any students such as chaperoning field trips, tutoring, or any other role that is unsupervised by a teacher. For those circumstances, please complete the Volunteer Background Check Request Form.
Please review MPS Volunteer Expectations.
