Join the Green Team!
The Lake Harriet Community School Green Team is a parent-led team focused on fostering environmental stewardship among students and the school community. There are four primary focus areas:
- Garden: Our garden team focuses on improving school grounds with plants and engaging kids and teachers in interactive gardening activities.
- Education and Engagement: We work collaboratively as a Green Team with Principals and teachers to develop and implement engaging content both in and out of the classroom.
- Lunchroom: One or two parents help in the Lower Campus lunchroom each school day, supporting proper waste sorting between trash, recycling, and organics. Parents love this low-commitment opportunity to volunteer, especially since they get to interact with all the K-2 students in a fun environment.
- Special Projects: As the Green Team identifies new goals, the Special Projects team supports research, outreach, and coordination to bring new initiatives to life.
