Projects

Every student will choose projects from the following list to be completed each semester

(complete 4 to be eligible for an “A”, complete 3 to be eligible for a “B”, complete 2 to be eligible for a “C”, complete 1 to be eligible for a “D”.  Extra credit will be given to students completing all 5 projects).

  1. Dance Warm-Up.  Prepare a dance warm-up to teach the class during one class period.  Click on the right "In This Section" to see the sign-up sheet.
  2. Class Presentation.  Create an audio/visual presentation highlighting the background information of one culture and dance presented in class.  (Note:  if a student chooses to complete both projects B and C, they must be on different cultures)  Click on the right "In This Section" to see the sign-up sheet.
  3. Written Report.  Write a paper (5 paragraphs minimum) highlighting the background information of one culture and dance presented in class.
  4. Interview.  Using questions provided by the teacher, interview one adult friend, family member, or member of the community about a dance that is meaningful to him/her.  Submit their answers to the questions as a typed report. (click on "In This Section" for more details)
  5. Recital Review.  Attend one live dance recital and write a review, following a written format provided by the teacher (click on "In This Section" for more details).  If attending a live recital is not possible, an option will be given to watch a video recording of a dance recital provided by the teacher.  The report must be typed.
