WELCOME TO MY CLASSROOM WEB PAGE!

2012-13 will be my fifth year at Lake Harriet .  The first 4 years here, I taught 3rd grade.  It is my honor to take so many of your children with me to 4th grade.  It will be a fantastic year.  I thoroughly enjoy being a part of this wonderful, supportive, and involved community.

To get our communication started, I'll tell you some things about myself that you may find interesting and useful.  I went to St. Cloud State University and received my Bachelor's of Science degree in Special Education with an EMMH K-12 license.  At Augsburg I added an elementary K-6 licensure to my resume.  Then I received my LD K - 12 licensure through SCSU.  I continued my education at the University of St. Thomas and earned my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

I began my teaching career right here in the Minneapolis Public School system.  I was a student teacher at Burrough's, Anwatin, and Holland.  I taught 1 year at Groves Learning Center in St. Louis Park, and was then hired by Minneapolis Public Schools.  For 5 years, I taught at Hall Montessori School as a special education resource teacher.  At Jefferson Elementary School I taught 2nd grade for 12 years.  The following 4 years at Jefferson, I had a position that combined the responsibilities of a special education resource teacher, Title I teacher, and a TAP (Teacher Advancement Program) Coach.

I believe, that as an elementary educator, it is my obligation to enrich the academic and social lives of my students with exemplary teaching and nothing less than the highest expectations of success for each and every one of them.

Email is the best way to contact me.
My email address is Amy.OHara@mpls.k12.mn.us
I will make every attempt to return e-mails within 24 hours.
