About Me

Hello Fifth Grade Families,

I am so excited to be your child's Fifth Grade teacher this year at Lake Harriet, and to be joining such an amazing crew of teachers. This is my 18th year with MPS, and twelfth year at Lake Harriet Upper where up until this year I taught Middle School Language Arts and Social Studies. Prior to teaching in MPS, I worked at a private school in St. Paul.

This year Mrs. Peterson and I will teach English Language Arts and Social Studies and Mr. Badenhoff and Mr. Tousignant will teach Math and Science. If you have me for Homeroom and Block #1, I am your go to person if you have any questions about about the Fifth Grade curriculum or your child's academic progress in school. If I can't answer your questions, I will direct you to the right person.

I hold a B.S.. and Master's of Education degrees from the University of Minnesota (go Gophers!) and a degree in Educational Leadership from St. Thomas University. My professional interests are focused in the areas of children's literature, technology learning, Paideia and National History Day . I also LOVE integrating historical fiction novels [when possible] into the curriculum. During my leisure time, I enjoy traveling, reading, yoga, cooking, and biking around for hours exploring the scenic parkways and byways that surround the beautiful Twin Cities area.

  • Communication: The best way to contact me is always by E-mail .  I am also available before and after school, on most days, if you prefer to meet in person.
  • Website Page: I update my homepage each Monday and throughout the week so please bookmark this page and refer back to it often.

If you have any questions please contact me by email or find me in room #104. I look forward to a fun and challenging year of learning with your student.
