Mr. Eric Selle, MA, MT-BC

Eric Selle has been a musician his entire life.  In 4th grade he began playing the trumpet, he joined choir in high school, and has continued to perform both instrumentally and vocally throughout college and beyond.  Mr. Selle earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Instrumental Performance (specializing in low brass) and K-12 Music Education from Concordia University, St. Paul, in 2004.  He has teaching experience in a variety of different subjects and settings, including elementary band at King of Kings Lutheran School in Roseville, theology and music at Mount Carmel Ministries, and English language at two schools in Fukushima, Japan.

In addition to teaching, Mr. Selle has served in a number of volunteer positions which have given him the opportunity to share the gift of music with others.  He traveled throughout the USA, Peru, and Bolivia with an organization called Youth Encounter, playing music for children and their families, older adults, and people experiencing poverty and homelessness.  He served as an AmeriCorps volunteer for two years, living and working with adults with developmental and cognitive disabilities at Camphill Village in Sauk Centre, MN.  In 2012, he and his wife moved to Fukushima, Japan to assist with relief efforts for people recovering from the Tohoku Earthquake and nuclear disaster of 2011.

Upon returning to the United States in 2014, Mr. Selle enrolled in the Masters Equivalency Music Therapy program at the University of Minnesota, and completed his 6-month full-time clinical music therapy internship at Park Nicollet Health Services in May 2016.  The American Music Therapy Association requires 1200 clinical hours in music therapy settings over the course of earning the degree.  In addition to his internship at Park Nicollet, Mr. Selle gained valuable practica experiences at Bridgeview School in St. Paul, Optage Hospice – a division of Presbyterian Homes and Services in the Twin Cities, and Good Samaritan Ambassadors in New Hope.  He currently holds the Music Therapist – Board Certified credential.

Mr. Selle is excited to join the staff at Lake Harriet Upper Elementary School, where he is currently providing music therapy for students as well as co-teaching Rock Band and Choir with Ms. Cuff and teaching Dance Class!
