About Mr. Brown

Hello everyone, I just wanted to tell you a little about myself.   First, I am very happy to be teaching at Lake Harriet Lower Campus. This is my 23th year teaching in Minneapolis Public Schools, and my 5th(?) year at Lake Harriet Lower.  It is so nice to be here full time now, and to have our own classroom for music!   We now have plenty of room for singing, playing instruments, and movement!

I have a Bachelor of Music Degree from Berklee College of Music in Boston, were I studied Composition, Arranging, and Performance.  I received my teaching licensure from Augsburg College, and later, my Master’s Degree from the University of St. Thomas.

Some of my hobbies are: spending time with my son riding dirt bikes and ATV’s on trails around the state, fishing, bike riding, running, and reading.

Philosophy

"Music is an indispensable part of universal human knowledge.  He who lacks it has a faulty knowledge.  A man without music is incomplete.  It is obvious that music should be a school subject.  It is essential."  Zoltan Kokalyould be a school subject. It is essential!" (Zoltán Kodály)
