The goals of school discipline are (1) to teach students to behave in ways that contribute to academic achievement and school success and (2) to support a school environment where students and staff are responsible and respectful. All staff, students, family members, and community members in the Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) share rights and responsibilities to assure that all members of the school community are safe, able to learn, and treated with respect, dignity, and kindness.

In addition, students may not carry electronic communication devices, such as cell phones or pagers, at school. See Middle Grades Policies for consequences for carrying electronic devices.
All school rules and expectations apply anywhere on school grounds, on the school bus, and at any organized activity sponsored by the school.
