Welcome to my web page. I am a full-time Special Education Resource Teacher (SERT) providing support to students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP), at the Upper Campus. I work primarily with middle grade students. I've been working at Lake Harriet for 22 years, nine at the lower campus. I hold a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Special Education (Specific Learning Disabilities, Emotional/Behavioral Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders). Lake Harriet Community School is also my neighborhood school and community.
Each student I work with has a program designed to meet their individual needs and empower them to be self-advocates and successful learners. Some students may have direct instruction in reading, math, writing, study skills and/or social skills, working in a small group learning situation in the resource room 206. Once a year I utilize a social skills program called Upstream Arts, using community performing artists. The PTA has been generous in providing me with this grant, which enriches my teaching and the experiences for students with social needs.
Some areas I'll focus on (curriculum) this school year may include:
I look forward to another year of empowering and learning!
