Ms. Chase's Africa Trip !
As many of you know, this past July and August two friends and I traveled to Tanzania, Africa to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro.  This has been a dream of mine for many years.  Last school year, the students at Lake Harriet - Lower Campus were involved in learning about my trip in several ways.  Students were challenged to "climb the mountain" with me by climbing stairs, and recording their steps climbed.  Each stair climbed was one foot up the 19,340' mountain!  Many students participated.  In addition, our lower campus Field Day theme was "An African Adventure!", in which the students participated in many events related to the climb and to going on an African safari.

I am excited to share with all of you that we had a wonderful trip!  We all three made it to the summit!  The climb was an awesome experience and the safari was spectacular!  As promised, I'm including just a few, unedited at this point, photos from my trip.  In January I was able to do a  presentation, with many more photos, at one of the  PTA meetings.  It was fun to see so many people and to receive many great questions from students.

Thank you for your encouragement and interest these past few months.  It truly was a trip of a lifetime and it has been very fun and special to share some of it with you, the families at Lake Harriet Community School!
