About Mrs. Boerboon

This will be my fifth year at Lake Harriet Upper Campus teaching third grade in Room 2. I am very excited to be here and to be in the classroom.  In the past, I have taught science, kindergarten, third, fourth, fifth grades and special education for elementary and high school students. The majority of my career has been spent teaching fourth grade for fifteen years. This is my 27th year teaching for Minneapolis Public Schools.

I went to school at the University of Minnesota for my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a Kindergarten endorsement. My minor is in science, which I have a passion for teaching. I have my Masters in Special Education for K-12.

This summer, I have taken classes for six full days to help me prepare for the 2012 - 2013 school year.  Two of the days had an emphasis on my favorite subject which is science. I also spent one day working on some new math curriculum called the Rational Number Project.

I have four adult children (three daughters and one son).  I also have had 26 high risk, foster children living with us over the past 25 years.

My teaching philosophy is that all students should be held to high expectations, be challenged, be exposed to a rigorous curriculum, and be held accountable. I also hope that each student will have a love of school and for learning.

You may contact me at school at 612-668-7343 and I will return your call or email within 24 hours. You may also reach me on my cell phone number 612-749-1321. My email is boerboon@mpls.k12.mn.us However, the best way to reach me is by email.

I am looking forward to meeting each and every family this August at our ice cream social and open house.
