Earth Matters: What is Earth Hour?
Monday, March 16, 2009 11:50 PM

On March 28th at 8:30pm, millions of people around the world will come together to take a stand to protect our planet against a problem called climate change. They will do something quite simple: turn off their lights for just one hour to show that one person can make a difference and millions of people working together can change the world.

Earth Hour 2008 was like a giant wave of change; it swept around the world. People across the globe turned out their lights for just one hour. Lights went out in the Sydney Opera House, the Wat Arun Buddhist temple in Bangkok, the Coliseum in Rome, the Royal Castle in Stockholm, the Parliament building in Budapest, London’s City Hall, the CN Tower in Toronto, the Sears Tower in Chicago, and the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Join the world this year for Earth Hour 2009. or
