A letter from the Principals

Dear Families,

As winter break nears and we approach the mid-point of the school year, we would like to share some happenings at Lake Harriet.

First, we would like to congratulate all for the good news about Lake Harriet. For the 2006-07 school year, Lake Harriet is one of nine schools recognized by the district as "beating the odds," a recognition given to those schools scoring higher than predicted in Grade 8 math.

Lake Harriet campus tours began later this year because of the change in date for the District Information Fair to Saturday, January 12. The first tours took place last week, on Tuesday and Thursday, and will continue through February 26. These tours are an important way to market our school and reach out to new families. Thanks to Shelly Damm for organizing the tours; to Traci Lyngstad for scheduling tours; to the many parents who will serve as tour guides over the next two months; and to staff members who welcome our visitors in their classrooms.

As the year ends, take time to reflect on past events - successes and disappointments -- and put them into perspective. Year-end is also a time to set new goals. The New Year will bring with it new challenges and fresh opportunities. We look to the New Year with a sense of hope and optimism, knowing that we will be building on the successes of the past year.

Have a wonderful winter break. Thanks for sharing your children with us and for all you do to make Lake Harriet strong!

Sincerely,

Marsha Seltz, Principal ~ 668-3316
Anne Wade, Assistant Principal ~ 668-3212
Jay Alexander, Assistant Principal ~ 668-3336
