Dear Families,

The Carnival was a huge success! Thanks to Maureen Kane Berg, Carnival Chair, committee members, and all the volunteers! What a wonderful social event for families.

Thanks to all of our volunteers who help throughout the year. We greatly appreciate all your assistance. We were pleased that so many families attended the Kindergarten Orientation, and the K-2 Spring Concert at Lower Campus. Thanks to Mr. Albert and the students for a stellar performance. We had over 250 families in attendance at each event. Thanks to Sue Cullen-Pehrson for working her magic with the 6th grade performers and the 5th grade chorus in the performance of Schoolhouse of Rock. Miss Sue, YOU Rock! Also, thanks to Mike Mazyck for showing us how talented Lake Harriet students really are. The middle grades wind ensemble concert was outstanding. Thank you, Mike for working so diligently with out students and thank you students for learning and practicing all year long! We hope you find time to participate in the many fun end-of-the-year events still to come.

Many thanks also to the families who provided desserts for staff at Lower and Upper Campus during Teacher Recognition Week. What a nice treat! They were enjoyed by all.

The Education Council discussed the new start times for the 2008-09 school year. The start time will be 9:35-3:50 – LC; and 9:40–3:55 – UC. Steve Crenshaw, District Safety Manager for Area 1, shared information on the start times for the district and the huge cost savings the new schedule brings to the district. Every dollar saved in transportation means more money for the school for staff and materials.
