A Letter from the Principals
Tuesday, January 15, 2008 7:35 AM

Welcome back from holiday break! We hope your holidays were peaceful, warm and safe. Our teachers are ready to help your children excel once again.

January is another busy month at LHCS. Our tours started again on Tuesday, January 8 and will continue through February 26. We are being very clear with families with kindergarteners that the only year we can guarantee a spot for their children is in kindergarten. Our numbers continue to be large and two groups are touring concurrently

If you have an incoming kindergartener, or know someone who has a child in any grade interested in Lake Harriet, remember that school choice cards must be postmarked by Friday, February 29. Cards are available in the school office at either Lower or Upper Campus.

Students will not be in attendance on the following days:

Monday, January 21; Martin Luther King Holiday. There are activities throughout the metropolitan area to celebrate his accomplishments.

Friday, January 25; A record-keeping day for staff.

The second quarter/first semester ends January 24. On Tuesday, January 29, K-5 report cards will be sent home; grades 6-8 report cards will be mailed home. Third quarter/second semester begins Monday, January 28.

THINK SNOW… because Thursday, January 24 is K-8 Winter Activity Day. This special day involves lots of fun outdoor activities for our students including sledding, skating and skiing and snowshoeing. Please watch for more information about K-8 Winter Activity Day from your child’s teacher. If you can volunteer to help, call your child’s teacher. Please remember to dress your children appropriately for the outdoor weather.

Sincerely,

Marsha Seltz, Principal ~ 668-3316 Anne Wade, Assistant Principal ~ 668-3212 & Jay Alexander, Assistant Principal ~ 668-3336
